Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install Call Now on more than one iPhone?
Whatever Apple will allow. At the time of this writing, one Call Now installation per iTunes account, and if there are several iPhones sync'ed to that account, they will all have Call Now, although you may have some issues with the phone number that Call Now calls, if the installation of Call Now on each iPhone is set to call a different phone number. Adjust after sync, as necessary.
How do I change the position of the Call Now icon?
We suggest that you place the Call Now icon at the top left of the home screen, so that it is most directly accessible without you having to think about it. The home screen, of course, is what you see when you press the button at the bottom front of the iPhone, and shows all of your installed application icons. Locate the Call Now icon, and hold your fingertip on it until it starts to writhe with demented pleasure, then drag the icon with your fingertip to where you want it on the screen.
While the icon is happily writhing, if you touch the circled X at the top left of the icon, the iPhone will ask if you want to delete Call Now. We'd rather you say no. Some people who get into this situation accidentally, wonder what's going on and contact tech support. It's really not that bad, just touch the home button to escape. If you really did mean to delete Call Now, please let us know what we could do to make it better and have you reinstall it. Please don't hurt us, our hearts are in the right place. You know where to find us, and reloads are free on the App Store.
Why are your buttons on the Web site so huge?
The www.thorjupitersoftware.com site was optimized for maximal useability with Safari on the iPhone, in both portrait and landscape mode. User testing showed the present button size to be optimal. We also like the effect when viewed on Safari under Mac OS X.
If you're using some other browser to view this site, that's just weird. Sorry.
What other apps does ThorJupiter Software have planned?
Call Now was written in March 2008, and was our first iPhone app to emerge from testing on the iPhone 3G in August. From then til now has been a beehive of activity. The first version of RunningTotal was released in May 2009.
Does Call Now work on the iPod touch?
No. The iPod touch doesn't have a Phone application built in. We tested Call Now on the iPod touch, one night when we were very tired, and proved this. If you bought Call Now, it would only be useful after you bought an iPhone as well.
Who are you guys?
Our backgrounds are in mathematical modeling, physics simulations, large-scale database development, AI game engine design, and productivity applications, on Un*x, Linux, and various flavors of the Mac OS, stretching back several decades.
Why can't I edit the phone number directly in the Settings app?
Call Now went through many versions before it was released, and that feature was in one of the earlier versions. User testing showed that it wasn't always reliable when it came to interfacing with Apple's Phone application. There were also some issues with internationalization. We'd prefer not to go back there right now, but we will revisit adding this feature.
